Happy 148th birthday to the Department of Justice. On 22 June, 1870, President Ulysses S Grant signed the bill that created the US law enforcement agency. The position of attorney general had already been around for over 80 years, but was generally thought of as a part-time gig that allowed several early office holders to simultaneously run their own private practices. Back in the present day, we have a couple of stories for you about a senator and former DOJ litigation head advising the agency how to respond to its AT&T/Time Warner loss.
