Two-sided birthday: The Tipline for 25 June 2019
The Supreme Court’s Amex decision celebrates its first birthday today. The court held in a five-to-four vote last June that American Express’s anti-steering provisions did not violate US antitrust law. The court’s five Republican-appointed justices determined that the relevant market was two-sided and the plaintiffs had failed to show the credit card restrictions hurt both merchants and cardholders.
