Trademarks the spot: The Tipline for 6 March 2020
Counsel to the Federal Trade Commission and 1-800 Contacts had each been allotted 12 minutes to present oral arguments before the US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit on Thursday. Because of this, yesterday’s Tipline provided some commentary on the difficulty of arguing a case as complex as this one in less time than your favourite sitcom. Either recognising this dilemma or in an effort to sabotage our coverage, the Second Circuit allocated more than double the time to closing, and even managed to question both sides on Google’s role in the dispute.
