The 17-partner Chicago team at Sidley Austin LLP are litigators first and foremost. Over the past five years, for example, the Sidley team has successfully defended or settled several cases for institutional client Johnson & Johnson - including the settlement of a claim of US$5.4 billion for US$11 million.
Like several other Chicago firms, the Sidley antitrust team also boasts a portfolio of heath-care clients, including the American Medical Association, Bayer, GlaxoSmithKline, AstraZeneca and others. Much of this work has been part of the headline-grabbing generic drug litigation in courts all over the country, led by Sidley partner and Who's Who nominee John W Treece.
The firm also has a strong real estate practice, including partner Jack Bierig, another Who's Who nominee. Partner Scott Stein's wrangle with the US Department of Justice in May this year secured a favourable settlement for the National Association of Realtors.
