Santos y Ríos has one of Mexico's smaller competition practices, but size has not dented its prospects.

Mergers make up 80 per cent of the firm's competition workload, with the remainder of the docket being compliance counselling. Santos, who local lawyers say is second only to Gabriel Castañeda by reputation, says that the plan is to angle into investigatory work.
