Baker & McKenzie boasts the world's second-largest competition team again this year, second only to rival Howrey. That did not stop the firm's growth, however; it promoted 12 to partner in jurisdictions including Jakarta and Ho Chi Minh City. It was by far the largest number of partner promotions of any Global Elite firm this year - and the second year in a row the firm has promoted 12 in its competition and antitrust practice. This year, the firm's global reach helped it represent BASF in an asset sale in Colombia; Brascan's purchase of shopping mall group GVM, which was approved by consent decree; a cutting-edge merger control, litigation and EU energy case for MOL in its defence of hostile suitor OMV; and American Airlines in Brazil's air cargo cartel investigation.
