Russia

Alrud remains the pre-eminent competition practice in Moscow. Partner Vassily Rudomino leads a team of 10 associates, along with senior partner Maxim Alekseyev. A pair of corporate partners, Alexander Zharskiy and Anton Dzhuplin, often work with the antitrust group on merger control and transactional work. Feodor Vyacheslavov, head of the dispute resolution practice, also supports the antitrust team with litigation of behavioural matters.

Alrud defended clients in one of the first international cartel cases in Russia, defending global shipping companies Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK) and AP Moller-Maersk in several FAS dawn raids at the start of an investigation into the industry. On the transactional side, Alrud worked on several high-profile deals over the past year, representing clients such as Shire, LG, Ball Corporation, Delta Electronics and Seadrill. The firm continues to attract new clients, including Honda, Nikon, Honeywell and Bayer.

Biopharmaceutical company Shire turned to Alrud for Russian regulatory approval for its proposed US$54 billion tie-up with AbbVie last year, which was ultimately terminated by the parties. Similarly, Alrud was chosen as local counsel for power supplies provider Delta Electronics’ acquisition of rival Eltek. Rudomino and his team also advised Seadrill and North Atlantic Drilling on a proposed agreement with Russian oil company Rosneft for onshore drilling rigs and platforms.

ALRUD is one of the leading Russian independent law firms with a highly ranked Antitrust practice which offers a full range of legal services in the field of Russian and Custom Union Competition Law.

ALRUD Antitrust team, being one of the largest in the Russian market, comprises highly qualified experts advising clients on implementation of both multi-jurisdictional and domestic projects.

The team has also been involved in merger control projects with such clients as Grohe, Thermo Fisher, Schneider Electric, S.C. Johnson, AGC, OTTO Group and others.

One of ALRUD’s strongest benefits is a good communication with the FAS and CIS competition authorities within the framework of Non-commercial Partnership “Competition Support Association in the CIS Countries”.
