Who’s Who Legal nominee Hoil Yoon continues to co-lead the elite competition practice at Yoon & Yang, with partner and former KFTC policy adviser Jae Young Kim. Among the firm’s 60-strong competition group, Yoon & Yang counts two former Seoul High Court judges and in March hired Young Kon Cho, former chief prosecutor at the Seoul central district prosecutor’s office, as a partner.

The KFTC published a list of its 11 most significant cases over 2013 and 2014; Yoon & Yang is involved in seven of them. This includes the firm’s representation of Hyundai and MAN in the agency’s truck cartel proceedings, and Kolon in a bid-rigging case regarding construction of the Incheon subway. Yoon & Yang is also advising Ottogi in the high-profile instant noodle cartel case, which has an international dimension after private damages lawsuits were filed in California.

Follow-on damages actions in the air cargo and LCD cartel cases are also in full swing, with Yoon & Yang advising Cathay Pacific and Chunghwa Picture Tubes respectively. Merger work is not as prevalent, but the firm says it is involved in several deals for domestic and foreign technology companies.
