Alrud is again the preeminent competition practice in Moscow. Who’s Who Legal: Competition nominee Vassily Rudomino leads the team, along with senior partner Maxim Alekseyev. Rudomino is also a member of the FAS’s Competition Support Association. Another two corporate specialists work with the pair, overseeing the firm’s merger control and transactional work.
Alrud represented clients in the first international cartel cases in Russia, including Nippon Yusen Kaisha, a global shipping company that was the subject of several FAS dawn raids. In other behavioural work, Alrud successfully represented Biotec in an abuse of dominance case against Teva Pharmaceuticals, the only supplier to Russia of multiple sclerosis drug Copaxon.
On the merger side, the firm assisted biotechnology company Thermo Fisher Scientific in obtaining Russian clearance for its acquisition of Life Technologies Corporation without any remedies. Antitrust agencies worldwide cooperated closely on the proposed transaction, and Alrud represented Thermo Fisher to the FAS, which approved the deal within the Phase I period. The firm also advised SC Johnson & Son on its acquisition of the Melvo Group, again clearing the merger without any remedies imposed by the FAS. In the meantime, Alrud continues to attract new clients, including Hasbro, Tetra Pak, Kia and Bayer.
ALRUD is one of the leading Russian independent law firms with a highly ranked Antitrust practice which offers a full range of legal services in the field of Russian and Custom Union Competition Law.
ALRUD Antitrust team, being one of the largest in the Russian market, comprises highly qualified experts advising clients on implementation of both multi-jurisdictional and domestic projects.

One of ALRUD’s strongest benefits is a good communication with the FAS and CIS competition authorities within the framework of Non-commercial Partnership “Competition Support Association in the CIS Countries”.
