While there are many competition practices jostling for the lead in Moscow, Alrud has pole position. The team is led by senior partner Vassily Rudomino, whose surname lends a syllable to the Alrud brand, along with senior partner Maxim Alekseyev. Another competition partner works alongside Rudomino, while a third corporate specialist also coordinates the merger control aspects of the firm’s transactional work.
Who’s Who Legal-listed Rudomino is a co-founder and head of the Partnership Council for Competition Support in the CIS countries. He is also a member of FAS’s Competition Support Association.
Over the past year, the Alrud competition team has maintained the pace it set in previous years, although the quantity of behavioural and enforcement work has risen relative to merger control. The team represented telecoms company Vimpelcom in an FAS investigation of alleged collusive behaviour in the market for iPhones; and represented an international construction materials during an FAS dawn raid, subsequently managing to have the case dropped owing to lack of evidence. Alrud’s other clients include LG Electronics, Unilever, DAF Trucks, Ineos and Goldman Sachs.
