Esin Attorney Partnership

Professional notice

Turkey

The leadership at Esin Attorney Partnership is shared by competition lawyer Zumrut Esin and former TCA official Derya Genç. Esin worked abroad for several years at various competition practices and became a partner at Esin in 2007. Although not a lawyer, Genç worked as a TCA case handler for eight years before moving into private practice. After working at other firms, including ELİG, she joined Esin last year. The pair is supported by one associate.

Genç says the firm offers a full-service competition practice, with particular expertise in merger control, cartel investigations and court appeals. Private antitrust litigation is an area that Esin says the firm is looking to extend into. “It’s not a big area yet in Turkey,” she says. “It needs to be improved, but we have good litigation experience at the firm.”

The firm recently represented airline Condor Flugdienst in a TCA cartel investigation, in which it filed a leniency application. The firm continues to advise on probes in the automotive, pharmaceutical, electrical appliances and technology sectors. On the merger front, Esin advised Mars Entertainment in its acquisition of cinema chain AFM and is regular counsel to German technology company Robert Bosch on transactional matters.

In November, Esin became a member firm of Baker & McKenzie. Zumrut Esin says the firm’s relationships with large international firms also generate a decent amount of referral work.

Esin Attorney Partnership, a member firm of Baker & McKenzie International, a Swiss Verein, is a leading law firm in Turkey with a dedicated antitrust & competition team, consisting of specialized lawyers and consultants.
