The McCarthy Tétrault competition team, with 14 partners, remains one of the largest in the country.
Who's Who nominee Randal T Hughes leads a team that also features fellow Who's Who nominees Oliver Borgers, Yves Comtois, Neil Finkelstein, Donald B Houston, and Madeleine Renaud. The firm boasts a depth of experience, in both mergers and behavioural matters, as well as in the courtroom in private competition cases.
On the merger front over the past year, the team helped Avaya purchase Nortel's global Enterprise Solutions business. It advised PepsiCo on its buy of the Pepsi Bottling Group, acted for BFI Canada in its purchase of Canadian Waste Services and handled United Technologies' takeover of the GE Security business.
Behavioural cases for the McCarthy team have included acting for Hynix in the ongoing DRAM cartel class action and Martinair in the air cargo cartel investigation. The firm is also acting in a host of other bureau cartel investigations, including for companies targeted in probes in the automotive filters, construction glass, packaged ice and chocolate industries.
