Michael Rosenthal leads the competition practice at Hunton & Williams LLP in Brussels. The six-strong team lost two associates last year, but continues to have three partners, including Paul McGeown who joined from Linklaters in 2009. Rosenthal says Paul's joining "significantly boosted" the firm's capabilities. "We are handling increasingly visible matters for high-profile clients at both EU and national level," he says.

Despite the economic downturn, Hunton & Williams has been very active on transactional work. The firm advised Aareal Bank's planned acquisition of WestImmo from WestLB, and represented Glencore before the European Commission on its acquisition of Chemoil.
