Schellenberg Wittmer

Professional notice

Schellenberg Wittmer's competition practice is led by Zurich-based Jürg Borer, while Jean-Yves De Both represents the team in Geneva.

"Jürg is a fine lawyer at the top of the league," said one rival. "He's a leading individual," said another. "Borer is well known by the Swiss Competition Commission, by other lawyers and by businesses, and that makes him one of the country's top competition lawyers," claimed a third. Borer, a Who's Who nominee, joined Schellenberg Wittmer in December 2006 after 10 years at rival firm Pestalozzi. He says the move was designed to bring Schellenberg Wittmer's competition practice up to speed with its exemplary corporate division. As well as Borer, the core competition team of the firm includes senior associate David Mamane and two other full-time competition associates. In addition, three partners and two associates practise competition on a part-time basis. The firm is advising Orange in a formal investigation by the Swiss Competition Commission in the Swiss mobile telecommunication market, and SIX Multipay in the authority's investigation of interchange fees in the Swiss credit card market. Johnson Controls is another client. The Schellenberg Wittmer team advised Johnson Controls when it acquired Swisscom's facilities management business in April 2009. Other key clients include BKW-FMB Energie, Cablecom, Coca-Cola, Coop, and Publicitas/PubliGroupe.
