In 2008, Jaroslaw Sroczynski teamed up with Professor Ryszard Markiewicz from Jagiellonian University in Krakow to establish Markiewicz & Sroczynski, a boutique focusing on competition, intellectual property, privacy and other regulatory issues.
Sroczynski, a Who’s Who nominee, spent some time at DG Comp before joining Soltysinski Kawecki & Szlezak, where he headed the competition team. He was also a regional director of Poland’s competition authority.
The competition group has since grown to include two counsel and one associate. Sroczynski hopes to corner a gap in the Polish market for the interface between intellectual property and competition law, as well as addressing regulatory issues.
The firm is advising on the tie-up of building materials companies Grupa Ozarów and Grupa Silikaty, and advising the Polish medical association authorities in an alleged abuse of dominance case. It is also advising Fakro in its case against Velux before the European Commission.
