Axinn Veltrop & Harkrider LLP

Professional notice

Axinn Veltrop & Harkrider LLP is an antitrust deal boutique, started in 1997 by ex-Skadden lawyers including firm senior partner Stephen M Axinn. He and antitrust practice co-chair John D Harkrider are both in Who’s Who, with Axinn in particular fielding a stellar reputation. Michael Keeley and Lauren Albert are the other antitrust partners in New York, while eight associates make up the rest of the team.

The firm is often called in towards the end of government merger investigations to deal with tricky consent orders, or the threat of a government suit. It worked on the Anheuser-Busch/InBev brewer merger, and has been retained by food-packager Bemis for its acquisition of assets from Rio Tinto. Telecoms is another speciality - BellSouth and Cingular are the largest of several industry clients. The practice also successfully fought off videogame-maker Electronic Arts’s attempt to acquire rival Take-Two. Small but effective, AVH is the best of its size in New York.
