Maintaining a laser focus on technology markets, Keystone Strategy’s competition group brings together accomplished economists, computer science experts and management professionals. Founding member Jeff Marowits and recently promoted senior principal Jennifer Redmond lead the competition group, which counts 105 dedicated antitrust specialists across four continents in the US, the UK, France, Italy, Brussels, Germany, Australia, Korea and Japan.
The team routinely advises on a wide range of competition-related issues in digital markets, such as platform economics, app store rules, the value of data, network effects and the trade-off between privacy and competition. Many of the major online platforms including Facebook, Amazon, Apple and Microsoft frequently instruct the consultancy, as do Epic Games, Oracle, News Corp, AT&T, Expedia and Turo.
Keystone’s merger control practice has grown significantly in the past year as dealmaking continues apace in tech markets. All of that work is confidential however, as are the vast majority of its high-profile litigation matters. Its one disclosable matter was an important one: assisting Epic Games in its litigation against Apple. Chief executive and co-founder Greg Richards, together with Boston-based Bartley Tablante, prepared research and analysis in support of the popular video game maker.
