If – as many experts believe – crises breed cartels, then competition lawyers likely face a busy decade or two to come. The global Air Cargo conspiracy was widely seen as a consequence of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, while the global financial crisis of 2008 was the catalyst for a series of cartels across a host of markets. The direct effect of covid-19 on any actual infringements may not yet be apparent, but it has already affected cartel enforcement in other ways.
