Amy Manning marshals MCGUIRE WOODS’ antitrust practice in Illinois, assisted by fellow partners Angelo Russo, Sarah Zielinski, two counsel and four associates. The team is busy working on a myriad of confidential criminal antitrust matters. Public work includes defending a pair of clients against lawsuits alleging illegal no-poach conspiracies: Schneider National against claims it agreed not to hire rival trucking employees and Elite Staffing against claims brought by the Illinois attorney general asserting an anticompetitive agreement among three temporary staffing agencies.
For plaintiffs, McGuireWoods represents valve maker Nibco in its lawsuit accusing rival Viega of illegally tying the sale of its copper press fittings to the sale of its carbon steel press fittings. A Pennsylvania federal court denied Viega’s motion to dismiss the lawsuit in November 2018. McGuireWoods is also representing drugmaker Fresenius Kabi in its complaint alleging that Par Pharmaceutical illegally delayed entry for a generic alternative to the diabetes medication Vasopressin. Fresenius’s complaint survived a motion to dismiss, but the company is now appealing against Par being granted summary judgment for its antitrust claims.
