Partner Kim Gee-hong leads the competition team at JIPYONG, which includes five other partners and 14 attorneys. The well-regarded antitrust practice represents South Korea’s largest internet search engine, Naver Corporation, in an investigation by the KFTC into suspected abuse of dominance in the market for online shopping. The firm also advised Kakao Corporation in a criminal action against the company’s chair Kim Beom-soo, who was accused of falsifying records submitted to the KFTC and of violating disclosure obligations under the Monopoly Regulation and Fair Trade Act. The competition team successfully secured an acquittal from Korea’s Supreme Court in February 2020. Jipyong also represented the KFTC during its investigation into Qualcomm for abuse of dominance and represented interested third party Intel Corporation in the resulting follow-on litigation. Jipyong was a leader among a host of legal teams that defeated Qualcomm's appeal against the KFTC’s 2016 groundbreaking €800 million fine.
