Located in a historic fishing village just north of Istanbul, ACTECON specialises in competition, trade and regulatory compliance. Managing partner Bahadir Balki leads two senior associates and 12 lawyers who work on competition matters. Alongside compliance, Balki says he is known in the market for his record in securing often confidential leniency markers and for consulting on antitrust probes in the banking, telecommunications, shipping and construction sectors. The firm represented electronics manufacturer Samsung and inter-city bus operator FlixBus in abuse of dominance probes launched by the Turkish enforcer, both of which were closed after a preliminary investigation. Balki also secured a finding of no wrongdoing for insurer Aksigorta in the authority’s probe into information sharing, which resulted in fines to five other insurance companies. Actecon was instructed as local counsel by international law firms including Latham & Watkins and King & Wood Mallesons to advise on Turkish aspects of global deals, including advising EssilorLuxottica in its €7.2 billion acquisition of GrandVision and Ingenico in its €7.8 billion sale to Worldline.
