Its workload has been heavy in recent years, as it advises some of the world’s biggest multinational deals: Bayer’s $66 billion merger with Monsanto, Praxair’s merger with Linde and Uber’s joint venture with Yandex, for example. Siemens retained Alrud regarding its global merger with Alstom, which was cleared in Russia but failed to secure clearance in the EU. The firm is representing both Gardner Denver and Ingersoll-Rand regarding the former’s acquisition of the latter’s industrial business, which would create the world’s second-largest industrial pump and compressor manufacturer.
In what has become a major area of scrutiny for the Federal Antimonopoly Service, Alrud represented the Russian subsidiary of LG Electronics during an unscheduled inspection and the associated investigation into coordination among smartphone resellers. That case was one of several that the FAS has launched or concluded in the industry against such conduct; LG was found to have used an algorithm to monitor the prices its resellers charged.

In addition to successful work on merger control cases, ALRUD has a wide experience in supporting Clients and representing their interests in landmark behavioral cases. The firm represented LG Electronics during an unscheduled FAS inspection and subsequent examination of potential coordination among smartphone resellers. Earlier, ALRUD was the antitrust counsel for Maersk Line against FAS allegations that the shipping company violated the country’s anti-monopoly laws.
