Zhan Hao leads the impressive team at ANJIE LAW FIRM, which has built an excellent reputation in behavioural and litigation matters. Three more partners in Beijing – Song Ying, Michael Gu and He Jing – plus Stephanie Wu in Shanghai round out the senior team. The firm has been involved in almost all of the NDRC’s investigations, including infant milk, liquid-crystal displays, telecommunications, insurance and pharmaceuticals.

AnJie assisted Junzheng Group during the NDRC’s antitrust investigation into alleged price cartel of more than 20 PVC makers. The firm also advised Mstar Semiconductor in getting Mofcom to remove the previously imposed conditions on the Media Tek/Mstar deal. In February 2018, Anjie represented a defendant in an private litigation by Meng Bai He, accusing four individuals of a horizontal agreement to increase the price of TDI material. The firm also completed merger filings for a joint venture by Daiwa House and Zhejiang Baoye.

As one of the most experienced and widely recognised antitrust/competition practices in China, AnJie provides its clients with a full range of competition law services, including administrative investigation; civil litigation; merger control filing; and antitrust/competition consultation and compliance. AnJie’s antitrust/competition practice has been repeatedly recognised by international ranking institutions, such as Chambers & Partners, Who’s Who Legal, The Legal 500, China Law and Practice, Expert Guides and ALB. Chambers & Partners has honoured AnJie professionals with inclusion in its list of recommended competition/antitrust lawyers, in every annual edition since 2012.

The managing partner of AnJie, Dr Zhan Hao, is a leading expert in private antitrust litigation. The team, led by Dr Zhan and including Ms Song Ying and Ms Stephanie Wu, has regularly represented clients in the highest-profile competition litigations in China. The team successfully represented Sinopec, the nation’s largest oil refiner, in Yingding v Sinopec, the first antitrust lawsuit against a state-owned oil company in China. Currently, the team is defending Hitachi Metals in a lawsuit filed by four Chinese rare-earth companies over alleged patent licensing issues, a cutting-edge dispute closely followed by the antitrust community in China. In addition, Dr Zhan Hao and Ms Song Ying represented Panasonic in a case, which they won, brought by one of its distributors over alleged monopoly agreement.

AnJie has extensive experience and expertise in assisting clients to better handle investigations by antitrust enforcement authorities. AnJie has advised clients in such sectors as LCD, infant milk, insurance, auto parts, semiconductors, PVC, ports, software, petroleum, online platforms and consumer products. In a probe launched by the former Chinese antitrust authority, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), into international auto parts manufacturers, AnJie advised and successfully obtained a fine reduction of around 60 million renminbi for its client.

AnJie has represented hundreds of enterprises in merger control filings, all of which were successfully cleared. The firm handled the China filing for the $43 billion concentration between ChemChina and Syngenta, one of the largest overseas acquisition by a Chinese state-owned enterprise (SOE) to date, and successfully obtained clearance from the Ministry of Commerce. Dr Zhan Hao, Ms Song Ying and Ms Stephanie Wu handled this case. AnJie’s clients range from large SOEs to renowned domestic and multinational companies, which are active in numerous industries, including automobiles, shipping, chemical, energy, finance, pharmaceuticals, transportation, machinery, electronics, textiles, aviation, consumer goods, software, and healthcare. Moreover, extensive and seamless cooperation with international law firms allows AnJie to effectively assist clients in competition matters on a global scale.
