The US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit has reinstated $44 million worth of monopolisation damages to a tobacco company, but the defendant is plotting its further appeals. Also out west, assistant attorney general Makan Delrahim yesterday talked about how to apply antitrust to zero-price products such as the user sides of advertising-supported platforms including Google and Facebook. Meanwhile, a defence contracting supervisor allegedly told employees they could not attend a competitor’s job fair because “the no-poaching agreement is still in place”.
