French Competition Authority

The French Competition Authority is an independent agency in charge of regulating competiuon in France with 2CO staff and an annual budget of €21 million. The Authority has four core missions: combating cartels and abuses of dominant position; reviewing mergers and acquisitions; issuing opinions and sector inquiries; and overseeing the regulated legal professions. Cases are independently investigated by the investigation Services run by the General Rapporteur, and decided by the Board, consisting of one President. four permanent members (with the title of vice president) and 12 non-permanent members. The President and members of the Board are appointed by decree of the President of the French Republic. The Authority abides by its code of ethics and its value charter. its motto is Competition, for the benefit of all'. The Authority is a member of the European Competition Network and of the Steering Group of the international Competition Network, and participates in the work of the OECO's Competition Committee and other multilateral bodies.
