Commission for the Defence of Free Competition

Indecopi is a specialised public body attached to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, which began its activities in November 1992, through Decree Law No. 25868.

Its functions are market promotion and protection of consumer rights. Indecopi fosters a culture of loyal and free competition, and safeguards all forms of intellectual property.

Indecopi has been nominated as one of the three best competition agencies in the Global Competition Review Awards 2020 in the enforcement awards category. This category rewards the most outstanding actions in the enforcement of competition law in the world and Indecopi has been nominated for ‘Government agency of the year’, which recognises those competition agencies around the world whose work has been particularly effective, strategic or innovative.
