Introduction: The concept of state aid State aid law is a genuine concept of EU law that forms part of the competition law rules laid down in articles 107-109 et seq of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (TFEU). In a single market as in the EU, state aid rules are vital to prevent distortions of competition as a consequence of governmental support for national market players to the detriment of competitors from other member states.
