United Kingdom: Merger control

This year has seen a number of important new developments in UK merger control practice and procedure. In the first full year since the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) became operational, taking over from the Office of Fair Trading and Competition Commission, it has been finding its feet and facing up to a number of robust challenges. This article places these developments in the context of a brief overview of UK merger control, and also considers some key recent UK merger control decisions.
