From July 2014 to May 2015, the EU Commission’s main focus in the information and communication sectors has been on mergers: the Commission has looked over more than 30 concentrations in this sector, while only dealing with one antitrust case concerning Slovak Telecom, imposing a fine in October 2014 on the company and its parent company – Deutsche Telekom – for having developed an abusive strategy to shut out competitors from the Slovak market for broadband services for more than five years.
