The Antitrust Review of the Americas 2018

Mexico: Overview

08 September 2017

Introduction Mexican antitrust practice has become a very relevant area owing to the latest significant changes in our country, in both legislation and practice, most of them related to the increasing powers of the antitrust authorities (the Mexican Antitrust Commission (COFECE) and the Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT)) and higher penalties against those who breach antitrust law in Mexico. This has led to many companies, both local and international, implementing antitrust compliance policies and programmes to avoid investigation and possible sanctions.
