GCR USA is returning to the world of antitrust after a week off – and there’s plenty to catch up on. A congressional subcommittee may say the power of big tech companies has gone unchecked for too long, but the belief in checks and balances is still strong at the Department of Justice. Antitrust chief Makan Delrahim said on Thursday that he is a “big believer” in the separation of government powers. “We enforce the laws. And there are certain due process procedures that are afforded to various folks before you adjudicate,” Delrahim said. His principal deputy, Barry Nigro, added that he is not ready to dump antitrust for regulation – at least not yet. “I don’t think we’re in a place where antitrust has tried and failed,” he said.
