Google will be the first to admit that its generative artificial intelligence is a work in progress. The system known as Bard might only be a week old, but it is already acting like a rebellious teenager. When prompted, Bard says it would side with the Department of Justice as the agency challenges Google’s digital advertising business. “I hope that the court will find in favor of the Justice Department and order Google to take steps to break up its monopoly,” the chatbot says. Luckily for defence counsel, the US District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia does not allow cell phones into the courtroom, let alone an experimentative language model.
