For Wood measure: The Tipline for 19 March 2021
Judge Diane Wood of the US Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit on Thursday called the “Chicago School approach” to antitrust law a little overinclusive of a name “since I’m from Chicago and it’s not my approach”. Testifying before the US House of Representatives’ antitrust subcommittee, Judge Wood took aim at the consumer welfare standard, stating that the antitrust laws have always been concerned with not only consumer welfare, as the Chicago School has used the expression, “but also with concentrated economic power that chokes off vibrant competition and innovation.” In Tipline today, we have coverage of other parts of the hearing and of a federal judge considering transferring the Texas-led monopolisation suit against Google to California.
