Women in Antitrust 2021: call for nominations

GCR is now accepting nominations for inclusion in the sixth edition of Women in Antitrust, which profiles leading female competition lawyers, economists, academics and enforcers.

For over two decades, GCR has been recognising women at the forefront of competition law who have made groundbreaking contributions to the ever-changing, increasingly globalised competition landscape.

The previous edition of Women in Antitrust, published in 2016, featured almost 150 women. Those honoured included future enforcers like Cani Fernández, who is now head of Spain’s National Commission for Markets and Competition, as well as academics like Amelia Fletcher, who co-authored the high-profile Furman Report on competition in digital markets, which has done much to influence enforcement policy in the UK.

The previous edition also recognised former enforcers like Renata Hesse, Debbie Feinstein and Edith Ramirez who have now moved into private practice, as well as Latham & Watkins partner Peggy Zwisler, who won GCR’s Lifetime Achievement Award this year.

The previous edition also recognised former Robins Kaplan partner Hollis Salzman, who unexpectedly passed away this October and was subsequently posthumously honoured with the GCR Live: Women in Antitrust Pathmaker Award.

Once again, there will be plenty of outstanding candidates to honour in the sixth edition. Some of the world’s top competition authorities – including the European Commission and France’s Competition Authority – are female-led, while the Organisation of Economic Co-operation and Development is currently working on seven projects exploring the impact of gender on competition policy.

For the latest edition of our Women in Antitrust survey, we are welcoming nominations from lawyers and economists at the partner or counsel level, as well as from enforcers, academics or in-house counsel practising competition law anywhere around the world.

Please send submissions to [email protected] with the name of the nominee in the subject line. In 500 words or less, please include the nominee’s name and place of employment alongside a brief description of her work and why she deserves to be included in Women in Antitrust 2021.
