Wins and losses: The Tipline for 29 March 2023

Trial victories have not been easy for the US agencies to come by recently, but that does not mean their work has gone without recognition. The Department of Justice took home the trophy for Enforcement Action of the Year at last night's GCR Awards 2023 for its successful challenge to Penguin Random House/Simon Schuster. Meanwhile, defence counsel to the acquitted broiler chicken defendants took home silverware of their own for a behavioural matter of the year in the Americas. O’Melveny & Myers partner Michael Tubach, who represented former Pilgrim’s Pride chief executive Jayson Penn, dressed for the occasion with a t-shirt that read “#broilerthreepeat”.
