Windy City updates: The Tipline for 25 April 2022

Multiple Department of Justice officials were in Chicago last week to talk about the Antitrust Division’s approach to civil and criminal enforcement. Federal Trade Commission chair Lina Khan was also in the Windy City and discussed her view that the agencies as public enforcers “have a special obligation to be bringing the hard cases”. “If you don't try, the message that sends out to the world is that the enforcers don't think there's a problem in the market,” Khan said. She acknowledged the risks of bringing difficult cases but said that not doing so could lead to “stagnation and stasis”.
