Too big to jail?: The Tipline for 18 May 2020
The New York Times reported on Friday that Teva Pharmaceuticals has walked away from settlement negotiations with the Department of Justice, apparently daring the agency to file a criminal lawsuit against the company that produces 10% of all generic drugs prescribed in the US. Although there may be no threat of actual jail time, it could bring new meaning to the phrase “too big to fail”. That was not the only Friday afternoon news. Both the Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg reported the Antitrust Division is gearing up for a lawsuit against Google, and the DOJ also announced that it had blessed another collaboration agreement.
