The good news about being stuck in a bad-news cycle nowadays is that it probably won’t last very long. The Department of Justice’s Google lawsuit stole the antitrust spotlight for two-and-a-half days, but it is not the only enforcer in town investigating a prominent digital powerhouse. The Federal Trade Commission held a closed meeting yesterday via Zoom to discuss a “non-public law enforcement matter”, although media reports proceeded to make the matter less non-public. The Wall Street Journal reported that FTC staff have recommended bringing an antitrust case against Facebook, but the commissioners have not made a decision.
