Covid-19 has succeeded where the US Chamber of Commerce could not – preventing Democrats from voting for Alvaro Bedoya. The Federal Trade Commission’s fifth member-in-waiting will need to wait a little bit longer after Vice President Kamala Harris and Senators Ron Wyden and Chris Murphy revealed on Tuesday that they had contracted the virus. Bedoya, who President Biden first nominated more than seven months ago, needed Harris to break a tie last month after all 50 Republicans opposed voting him out of committee.
