Today is the last day of April, following a full month of covid-19 lockdown in much of the US. April normally would have included the championship game of college basketball’s March Madness tournament, but that tournament was cancelled this year. The debate over compensation for college athletes has continued, however, with a National Collegiate Athletics Association group releasing a proposal on Tuesday to allow college athletes more opportunities to make money – including through advertising and sponsorship deals. The recommendations also include a proposal for antitrust immunity for the NCAA.
