Soaked: The Tipline for 2 May 2023

The Department of Justice is still waiting to harvest the fruits of its criminal labour prosecutions. As trial losses continued to shower down in April, the proverbial May flowers are also appearing elusive. On Friday, the US District Court for the District of Connecticut washed five weeks of trial down the drain in ruling that the government’s aerospace no-poach case was not even worthy of the jury’s consideration. Also in Tipline, the Antitrust Division sends some paperwork to Mastercard and the Federal Trade Commission is celebrating the collapse of a cement merger.
