Second Circuit reinstates aluminium suit against banks

The US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit has revived claims brought by aluminium purchasers that accuse JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs and Glencore of conspiring to artificially inflate prices.

The Federal Trade Commission and House Judiciary Committee appear to be stuck in a stalemate regardless of whether their quarrel occurs in letters or public hearings. Pressed by Republican lawmakers about the FTC’s responses (or lack thereof) to various document demands, the commission’s director of congressional relations had very little to say. “I’m not able to provide that information today, but we're happy to continue talking to your staff,” Jeanne Bumpus said.
