Robbing Jonathan to pay Paul (Weiss): The Tipline for 22 August 2023
Assistant attorney general Jonathan Kanter is recused from the Department of Justice’s ad tech case against Google – at least for 86 more days. The DOJ told a federal court in Alexandria on Friday that Kanter initially recused himself from the case as part of a one-year cooling off period before the Antitrust Division filed suit in January. Kanter then stepped aside in April after his former firm first appeared in an email on Google’s behalf. That waiting period expires on 16 November, his two year-anniversary in office.
