Qualcomm abandons NXP deal: The Tipline for 26 July 2018
“We intend to terminate our purchase agreement to acquire NXP when the agreement expires at the end of the day today, pending any new material developments,” Qualcomm’s chief executive said yesterday. Those developments – in the shape of approval by China’s State Administration for Market Regulation – didn’t materialise overnight and the company has now conceded defeat. Elsewhere though it was a day of new beginnings, with the attorney general of Missouri sending a new civil investigative demand to Google, this time requiring the company to turn over information about its Android business.
