The Federal Trade Commission is expected to file a blockbuster antitrust lawsuit against Amazon in the coming weeks but not before Andy Jassy offers a concession. The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday that the company plans to drop dozens of its private-label brands to avoid regulatory scrutiny. Amazon says its in-house brands make up only 1% of its retail sales. That concession might mean something to the judiciary but GCR would wager there is a 99% chance the drafted complaint stays in the commission’s shopping cart.
