Merger maladies: The Tipline for 6 June 2022
The Federal Trade Commission is not convinced there is a cure for two hospital mergers that it claims will harm competition in New Jersey and Utah markets for inpatient general acute care services. In separate and unanimous complaints announced last week, the agency is seeking to block both deals. Also in Tipline, Amazon has made an impassioned plea against proposed self-preference legislation, arguing that it could even make hosting third-party sellers on its online marketplace untenable.
