A lot about Democrats: The Tipline for 10 May 2018

The fight is underway for two pieces of legislation with antitrust implications. The newest version of the SMARTER Act, which would ensure that the federal antitrust agencies have to meet the same legal standard when stopping a merger, is back before the House of Representatives. Over at the Senate, Democrats are trying to force a full vote to restore net neutrality. And the top Democrats on antitrust subcommittees in both houses of Congress say Michael Cohen’s ties to AT&T are another sign of improper political influence on competition enforcement.
