Labour alert: The Tipline for 14 April 2020
The Department of Justice’s antitrust division and the Federal Trade Commission have said they are on alert for collusion in labour markets amid the covid-19 pandemic. In a joint statement released yesterday, the US enforcers said the pandemic may provide an opportunity for procompetitive collaboration in some instances, but that they will not tolerate anticompetitive conduct that harms workers. In other labour antitrust news, the US Chamber of Commerce has dropped its challenge to a Seattle ordinance that aimed to allow rideshare drivers to collectively bargain on certain aspects of their relationship with their platforms.
