The Senate begins marking up two antitrust-related bills today, but it is not clear who is going to enforce them even if they are signed into law. During an interview with CNBC yesterday, Federal Trade Commission chair Lina Khan said her agency is so under-resourced that it is having to make difficult choices over which mergers to investigate. If House lawmakers are not going to appropriate more money to the agencies, the least they can do is help out on some HSR paperwork.
