With or without court-mandated breakups and new federal legislation, the progressive antitrust movement has produced real results. Google and Apple sought to appease antitrust scrutiny earlier this year by lowering the commissions they collect from small app developers. Now, Google is allowing Spotify to offer its own in-app payment system on Android devices. Also in Tipline, a pharma company pays half a billion dollars to escape private litigation and lobbyists plan a “holiday” for antitrust.
